Shakespeare Challenge

This challenge is about William Shakespeare. Your challenge (if you choose to accept it) is to read 4 (four) books about Shakespeare. Not just the plays but anything about him.

You can read fiction, non-fiction, anything that supports his being the author, anything that does not support him being the author. If you want to read the plays and/or the sonnets, that's fine too.

This challenge will run for 6 months, from January 1st to June 30th, 2008. Crossovers are acceptable.

If anyone wants to join this blog, please email Historia with your email address, and I will send you an invite.

Remember it doesnt start until next year, so you have plenty of time to locate 4 books.

One new book to try is "The Shakespeare Diaries: A Fictional Autobiography," that is actually a mixture of fact and fiction with fascinating insights and conjectures.

I'm in! I was just thinking it was time to read some plays, a sonnet or two....and the book 1599 (? not sure of the title....came out in the past 2 years) about the most important year in Shakespeare's life....thanks for this, a way to prod me into reading him! I'll let you know my list when I have it ready....thanks! Susan

I backtracked a search from my blog to here, which is odd, as I can't find any reference to my blog here.

I'm the author of a new book, THE MASTER OF VERONA, which combines the characters from Shakespeare's Italian plays with the real people of Dante's Italy. I was wondering if it fell within your rules.

I'd love to chat some more - about where the book came from, the sequel, etc. But I don't want to take up space. Drop me a line if you're interested - greyhoundverona@aol.com.

Cheers, and have fun with the challenge!

Count me in. I've already got many more than 4 books, and this gives me the impetus to actually read them!

I'm undecided on what exactly I will read, but I think I'd like to read at least a couple of plays by him that I've not yet read. And then maybe 2 other books, not by him, but concerning him. Great challenge!
